Day 01: Dimapur, Nagaland:
Arrive Dimapur you will be transferred to hotel in Dimapur. Overnight at Dimapur hotel.
Day 02: Kohima, Nagaland:
Today you will be transferred to Kohima. After checking in you will be taken to Kiphama village – the festival ground. You will be introduced to this unique cultural extravaganza and festival activities – Cultural Dances (All 16 major tribes), War Dances (All 16 major tribes), Folk Songs, Indigenous Games, Music (Rock Beat contest in the evening),
Fashion Show (Cultural & Modern), Handloom & Handicrafts, Local Cuisine (All 16 major tribes), Local drinks (Zutho, Thutshe). Return to hotel. Overnight in Kohima.
Day03: Khonoma,Western Angami Tribal Village, Nagaland:
Post breakfast visit - The State Museum: The State Museum in Kohima exhibits a rare collection of articles of different tribes which portrays to the history and traditions of the Nagas. The Nagaland State Museum, about 1½ km north, is an invaluable treasure trove where one can get a glimpse into Naga culture through history. Here one can find panorama of each tribe being displayed. The Naga architecture, social hierarchy and custom, costun\me and culture are all displayed in this State Museum. The main items exhibited are gateposts, statues, pillars, jewelry, and a ceremonial drum that looks like a dug-out war vessel in a separate shed. These vessels suggest that the Nagas may have come from Sumatra. The basement of the museum houses birds and animals of northeastern hill states, especially those endemic to the region.
The Deputy Commissioners Bungalow: For over a month, Japanese troops battled British and Indian troops at this small bungalow in Kohima. The battle, known as the Battle of the Tennis Court , was the turning point in the fight against Japan and the bungalow still stands in this state capital. The Tennis Courts are now a part of the Kohima War Cemetery .
War Cemetery: A symbolic memorial raised as citation for supreme sacrifices made by the officers and men during the World War II. Each grave is supported by a bronze plaque with a suitable epitaph. An inscription inside the Memorial reads as under:
"Here, around the tennis court of the deputy commissioner lie men who fought in the battle of kohima in which they and their comrades finally halted the invasion of India by the forces of Japan in April 1944." And at the base of the lowest cross, an inscription reads:"When you go home / tell them of us and say for your tomorrow / we gave our today”.
Kohima Bazaar where one can find nearly anything that is living and moving here on sale. Nagas have a wide-ranging cuisine encompassing the entire spectrum of living things.Arrive at Khonoma and overnight in Home stays.
Day 04: Khonoma,Western Angami Tribal Village, Nagaland:
After breakfast visit - Khonoma Village. The picturesque village of Khonoma, which lies 20 km west of Kohima offers delightful views of Nagaland's natural beauty and ecological diversity. This village was known for its fighting prowess in the past. It is also known for the fallow management of its alder trees which balances nature in the surrounding areas. The beautiful terraces which are carved out of the hill slopes surrounding the village are a sight to behold. The unique variety of soil condition and elevation of its fields have resulted in about 20 types of rice being grown here. Passing through the traditional carved ceremonial gate, steep stone steps lead you to the highest point in the village. Here, the Naga warriors made their last stand against the British in 1879. A simple white pillar commemorates G.H. Damant, Maj. C.R. Cock, Lt. H.H. Forbes and Sub. Maj. Nurbir Sai who died fighting the Nagas in Khonoma.
To conserve the Blyth's Tragopan, an endangered pheasant of the State and other wildlife in its natural habitat, Khonoma Nature Conservation and Tragopan Sanctuary (KNCTS) was set up in 1998 by the ecologically conscious people of Khonoma village. This sanctuary which covers an area of over 70 sq. kms. is privately owned and managed by the Village Community of Khonoma. This sanctuary is also the habitat of many other endangered and rare species of plants and animals. The sanctuary is also an ideal place for adventure and nature study.You will have ample opportunities to visit the Morungs(dormitory for the youths) and Western Angami textile weaving.Overnight in Home stay.
Day 05: Khonoma – Kaziranga National Park(Assam):
From Khonoma you will take a 6 hours spectacular drive to Kaziranga through typical rural Assam.You will stay overnight at a beautiful Jungle Lodge, considered as a part of the Kaziranga experience.This beautiful Assam-style lodge is surrounded by lofty trees, creepers and natural forest. The staff and naturalists of this lodge are the best in the region
Day 06: Kaziranga National Park(Assam):
You will take Elephant back safari and game drives in the Eastern and Central range of the park.Overnight at the Jungle Lodge.
Day 07: Departure:
After breakfast you will depart for Guwahati airport and fly out.
